About the Role
Toray Advanced Composites (TAC) is a leading supplier of advanced composite materials for the aerospace, sporting goods, motor sport and industrial markets. You will find our thermoset composite products on nearly every satellite, space launch vehicle, unmanned aircraft, military and commercial aircraft in production today. TAC also provides composites materials to industrial and recreational applications including mountain bikes, medical prosthetics and sports equipment.
Our thermoplastic prepregs, known in the industry as Cetex®, are found in a wide range of commercial and military aircraft, including large wing structures and interior applications like seats and galleys. Our Cetex products are available in unidirectional tape or fabric form in a variety of engineered thermoplastic resins including PEEK, PPS, PEI as well as a full line of performance thermoplastics including Nylon, PET, PC/ABS, HDPE, and PP.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist III is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the overall health and safety of employees. The EHS III is responsible for working in a wide range of EH&S disciplines. Develop PowerPoints, training material, and other EHS-related documentation. Ensure EHS records are maintained and up to date: training records, inspection records, and other relevant data. This person should have a passion for Environmental, Health and Safety; a strong desire to serve others in an EHS capacity and work closely with the different people involved (employees, supervisors, technical staff, sub-contractors, etc.) to ensure safe working practices that comply with laws and standards.

MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Develop, implement and maintain EH&S policies, plans, and procedures.
Ensure EHS policies, plans, and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with current regulations.
Build a partnership with various regulatory agencies while hosting, documenting, responding to and tracking audits and inspections.
Responsible for ensuring annually update of Hazardous Material Business plan are updated and maintained
Mitigate environmental risks by interfacing with Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies on permitting and related issues
Implement, review and maintain records of materials and chemicals used in manufacturing and R&D facilities.
Accountable for matters related to environmental permitting (air, water, waste), safety, compliance monitoring, reporting, and auditing.
Monitor, measure, and maintain key data and report performance of key environmental metrics.
Support and train EHS Specialists on daily safety inspections (productions areas, labs, warehouse, shipping and receiving)
Responsible for maintaining corrective actions regarding Accident Investigations
Identify and provide solutions for risky behaviors within the organization
Partner with plant management to ensure the wellbeing of employees in the workplace by providing employee safe working methods
Evaluate and recommend strategies on programs that can improve continuous improvement for EHS
Support EHS personnel by training and development within the department
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Associates degree or equivalent experience, bachelor’s degree in EHS discipline or relevant to safety is preferred
5+ year of experience in EHS
6 months+ of experience in EHS leadership preferred
Manufacturing or composites experience preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
Extensive knowledge of CAL-OSHA regulations, EPA, HMBP, SWPPP and other related EHS regulations
Experienced in Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies and requirements.
EHS Certification in one or more specific fields is preferred (OSHA, Ergonomic, etc.)
Practical, hands-on experience with the following: Electrical/High Voltage Safety, Compliance
Experience with emergency preparedness and crisis management
Proven ability to update and develop safety and environmental procedures
Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English
Comfortable interfacing and developing professional relationships with internal and external personnel
Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner
Ability to solve practical problems and resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Follow safety procedures for PPE (personal protection equipment)
SALARY RANGE:
$100,000 - $135,000 annually

Required Qualifications / Experience
Associates degree or equivalent experience, bachelor’s degree in EHS discipline or relevant to safety is preferred
5+ year of experience in EHS
6 months+ of experience in EHS leadership preferred
